Preparing for the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell – 2019
The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell, popularly known as “El Godó”, has been held every spring at the Real Club de Tenis Barcelona-1899 since 1953. Over the years, it has become not only the most important annual sporting event in Barcelona, but also one of the city’s most prestigious social events. It has deservedly been recognised as the Best ATP 500 Tournament.
Very few tournaments in the world are organised by a tennis club. This is one of them. The Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell is an unmissable event that brings some of the world’s best tennis players to the courts of Pedralbes every spring.
For the 67th edition of the tournament, work was carried out on Courts 6 and 7, including the Rafa Nadal Court, which required the removal of the lighting poles.
For this operation, our Liebherr LTM1220-5.2 crane was used.
This crane features a six-section telescopic boom with a length of 60 metres, which can be extended to 110 metres with its luffing jib. It offers a maximum working radius of 88 metres, allows counterweights to be installed in just a few minutes directly from the crane cab, and has a permanently installed assembly cylinder on the superstructure.
It is a compact, highly manoeuvrable crane with an optimum weight distribution (5 × 12-tonne axle load).
