The CosmoCaixa Submarine
On 4 May 1986, the Tiburón-1 (SA-51) midget submarine, donated by the Spanish Navy, arrived in Barcelona.
Although it arrived at the Port of Barcelona, it was transported by road. During a symbolic public ceremony held at Moll de la Fusta, it was officially renamed BARCELONA.
Its first location was outside the Museum of Science, now CosmoCaixa, before being moved to its current location on a traffic island between Adrià Margarit Street and Isaac Newton Street.
To carry out this installation, we used a KRUPP KMK6200 crane (the company Krupp is now known as GROVE). It is a six-axle crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 200 tonnes.
